Online food ordering and delivery platform Foodpanda India has cut 500 employees in the country, a Mint report has said.
According to the report, FoodPanda has fired people across different segmens which includes sales, vender service, customer delight, sales, automation, and so on.
FoodPanda, which lets you discover restaurants according to the location you're in, and lets you order food online, is also planning to stop delivering orders on its own from January onwards. Which means, in atleast six cities, the company is expected to rely completely on vendor support for delivering orders.
Backed by Rocket Internet and Goldman Sachs, the food ordering and delivery platform has raised over $300 million since its inception three years ago.
In November, Foodpanda tied up with IRCTC to offer meals to commuters during a train journey.
A pilot of the proposed association will be launched at the New Delhi Railway station, Foodpanda said in a statement, without disclosing the timeline.
After Delhi, the service will be extended to more cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune and Chennai in due course of time, it added.
Foodpanda offers menus from over 12,000 restaurants across more than 200 cities.
